Vibe Coding
Vibe Coding
at 65Drones
Students build a real AI product first — an app, a chatbot, an AI-powered drone tool — then peel back the curtain to learn the logic, prompting and code running underneath.
"Vibe coding" means describing what you want in plain language and using AI tools to build it — then learning to read, tweak and debug the result. For 10 years, schools have trusted us to know our drones cold — official supplier for Air Land Conquest and the Aerial Drone Competition, because we fly and test every unit ourselves before it reaches a classroom. We apply that same build-it-and-prove-it standard to AI: we test every major coding platform ourselves before recommending it, so your school doesn't have to gamble on which one actually works. Every module below follows the same arc: build with AI first, understand the mechanics after.
How a vibe coding session runs
Describe it. Students write what they want in plain English — "a chatbot that talks like a pirate," "an app that logs our drone flights."
Build it with AI. An AI tool turns that description into a working app, in minutes, on a free or low-cost tier.
Break it open. Students read the generated code and map each part back to real concepts — variables, loops, conditionals, functions, APIs.
Make it theirs. They tweak, extend and debug it by hand, closing the loop from "AI made this" to "I understand this."
Vibe Coding Modules
NEWBuild an AI Study Assistant
Students vibe-code their own AI chatbot on Discord, give it a personality, then learn the Python and computational thinking underneath. Free teacher's guide available — setup, student instructions and lesson plan included.
AI App Building
Students describe a small app idea and use AI tools to build a working prototype, then learn to read and modify the generated code.
AI-Assisted Vlogging with Drones
Combines drone flight with AI tools for scripting, editing and captioning — students produce a finished vlog while learning how each AI step works.
NEWCyber Security and AI
A gamified introduction to cybersecurity concepts through AI-powered challenges.
NEWVibe Coding Game Programme
Secondary-school programme: students prompt, build, test and refine a playable game using the COSTAR framework, then showcase it at a class-wide game expo. ITQ-ready, MOE-compatible.
COMING SOONTrending Vibe Coding Projects
A showcase of real apps and tools our students have vibe-coded, refreshed as new projects and AI platforms come online — check back for updates.
Platforms we've tested
Replit OUR DEFAULT FOR CLASSROOM BUILDS
Real backend, autonomous debugging, and a browser editor that runs cleanly on school iPads. Best for hands-on builds — games, bots, working prototypes.
Lovable BEHIND THE SCENES ONLY
Fast, polished web-app prototypes. Its own terms of service restrict use to 18 and above, so we use it for our own builds, never directly in a student's hands.
Claude OUR PICK FOR STUDY & REASONING
Strong at grounded Q&A, long documents and careful reasoning. Powers several of the tools we build for students behind the scenes, including our AI Study Buddy.
Google Gemini
Large context windows and tight Google Workspace integration — a solid fit for schools already living inside Google's ecosystem.
More platforms being tested — this list grows as we build. Follow the latest results on @flyto.ai.
Vibe code a drone, not just an app
Whalesbot Eagle 1003
Competition-authorised and app-programmable — a clean starting point for classroom drone coding.
View Eagle 1003 →CoDrone EDU
Python-programmable from the ground up — no simulator required.
View CoDrone EDU →HighGreat Hula (AI Coding Swarm Drone)
Designed for coded swarm flight, though we've only vibe-coded single-unit flight so far — see it in action below.
View HULA Drone →Why vibe coding, and why now
Most vendors pick one AI tool and stay quiet about which one it is — that leaves teachers guessing whether a platform suits their students' age, works on school iPads, or was chosen for the students rather than the vendor's margin. We build with these tools ourselves first, in public, and say plainly what we found — including when a platform turned out to be the wrong fit.
